A Toronto toddler died after he was left for two hours in a sweltering car outside a home in Houston, Texas, local police said.! q- b5 v# F$ w% S& j# }6 z

Khoa Nguyen's father noticed he was missing around 2 p.m. local time. He found the 2-year-old unresponsive inside a Suzuki SUV parked in the driveway.

9 R7 [- F" l, E6 n9 QThe temperature inside the vehicle had reached 50 Celsius, said Chief Jim Sumner, with the Harris County Constable's Office. It was about 37 Celsius outside at the time.5 k5 a2 b. F/ h4 B- `# R- z

Relatives called 911 and tried to revive the child before he was taken by ambulance to Houston Northwest Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at about 3:30 p.m.: g: X% x ~2 m, s, R' J& k

"Almost an hour and a half after crews responded to the scene and they took him to the hospital, his body core temperature was still 105 degrees (40 degrees Celsius)," Sumner said.! [: R l9 H4 D% s6 A
3 t) W3 d% s4 W7 l sThe family was visiting Texas, and had just returned from the grocery store when their autistic, seven-year-old son had a seizure, Sumner said. They brought him into the house to attend to him, and about two hours later the father realized Khoa was missing.
